GIRLS CHRISTMAS CRAFTS - *CHRISTMAS CARDS*

THE CHRISTMAS TREE CARD

Difficulty: Easy Age: 3 and up Average User Rating: 8 It just wouldn't be Christmas without an evergreen tree! Make someone smile this holiday season with this cut-away card. What you'll need: * Green paper * Design paper * Design cardstock * 1/4" Ribbon * Gold glitter marker * 1/8" dowel * Pencil * Ruler * Paper scissors * Glue stick * Hot glue gun * Pattern How to make it: Step 1: Template Card 1. Trace and cut out template card on design cardstock. 2. Cut a 7" wide x 10" long rectangle shape out of design paper. 3. Glue the back rectangle shape on inside of card using a glue stick. 4. Glue ribbon across bottom and top edge on front and back of card. Step 2: Christmas Tree 1. Cut various lengths of 1/4" wide strips of green paper. 2. Wrap the 1/4�? strips of green paper around a 1/8" dowel to create a curl. 3. Hot glue curls on inside at center of card to create a tree. 4. Tie a bow with 1/4" ribbon and glue to bottom of tree. 5. Draw on the edge of the curls using a gold glitter marker. Tips: * Substitute paper curls for cut out paper tree.

THE CHRISTMAS CANDLES CARD

Difficulty: Easy Age: 3 and up Average User Rating: 8 Light up someone’s life this holiday season with this Christmas candle card! The recipient of this 3-D craft will be aglow with excitement. What you'll need: * Empty toilet paper rolls (2) * Design cardstock * Color paper * Color cardstock * Gold bracelet rings (3) * 3-D gold fabric paint * Yellow tissue paper * Pearl bead * White glitter * Gold leaf or gold marker * Watered-down white glue (recommended: Mod Podge) * Paintbrush * Glue stick * Gold leaf glue * Hot glue gun * Paper and sculpting scissors * Mantle Pattern How to make it: Step 1: Card and Mantel and Flower Pattern 1. Cut out a 5" wide x 14" long rectangle shape using design cardstock and fold in half. 2. Trace and cut mantel pattern on color cardstock. 3. Trace and cut flower pattern on color (large and small flower) and design cardstock (small flower only). Step 2: Candles 1. Cut one toilet roll in half so they are two separate pieces at the same height. 2. Cut another toilet roll to measure 3-1/4" tall. 3. Glue all around toilet rolls with glue stick and wrap colored paper around each roll. 4. Cover and glue the top of each roll with cardstock and cut around toilet rolls trimming off excess cardstock. 5. Cover top and top edges of candles with 3-D gold fabric paint. 6. Sprinkle with white glitter and let dry. 7. Brush on a thin layer of watered-down white glue over candles and spinkle more glitter. 8. Pierce a small hole in the top centre of each candle. 9. Push a small pieces of yellow tissue paper into the holes and glue them onto each of the candle. Step 3: Mantel 1. Score and fold the cardstock for the mantel as indicated in the template. 2. Glue the corners of the mantel together and glue the back edge of the mantel on the bottom centre edge of card. 3. Glue candles on top of the mantel. 4. Hot glue gold bracelet rings behind the candles, slightly overlapping each ring at the top of the candles. Step 4: Flower 1. Glue a colored paper flower and a design paper flower on top of each other. 2. Glue the small color paper flower on top of the design paper flower. 3. Hot glue a small pearl in the centre of flower. 4. Brush on gold leaf glue on mantel and tissue paper and let dry. 5. Brush on gold leaf on mantel and brush off excess gold leaf. Tips: * Substitute gold leafing for gold paint or gold marker.

FALLING SNOWFLAKES CHRISTMAS CARD

What you'll need: * Design cardstock * White paper * Tiny beads * 1/4" ribbon * 3-D white pearl fabric paint * Fine white glitter * Hot glue gun * Watered-down craft glue * Pencil * Ruler * Paper scissors * Thread and needle * Pattern How to make it: Step 1: Pattern Cutouts 1. Trace and cut out card pattern on design cardstock. For the card pattern, use a folded piece of cardstock, matching it up to the "fold line" indicated on the pattern. 2. Score the card where indicated on the pattern. 3. Dot the cardstock with 3-D white fabric paint along the scalloped edge of card. Step 2: Ribbon and Bow 1. Glue 1/4" ribbon around card at 1�? from the top on front and back of card 2. Cut a 5" piece of 1/4" ribbon, fold and glue the ends to center of ribbon to create the loops for a bow. 3. Cut a 1" piece of 1/4" ribbon, fold and glue over center of bow. 4. Hot glue finished bow on the top/center of card over the ribbon glued onto the cardstock. Step 3: Snowflakes 1. Large snowflake - cut one piece of 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" square. 2. Small snowflakes - cut two pieces of 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" square on white paper. 3. Fold paper in half two times. 4. Fold the top left corner and bottom right corner together. 5. Cut out small shapes on top and side edges of snowflake (try triangles and rectangles) and unfold. 6. Repeat making three snowflakes. 7. Cover top of snowflakes with watered-down glue, sprinkle with white glitter and let it dry. 8. Dot snowflakes with 3-D white pearl fabric paint and let it dry 9. Glue tiny beads around edge of snowflakes and glue snowfalkes onto card. Step 4: Beads 1. Thread tiny beads from top of snowflakes to bottom edge of glued ribbon. 2. Take beaded thread and glue in place. Tips: * Substitute beaded thread by drawing a line from top of snowflake to bottom edge of ribbon.

Christmas Wreath Candle Holder Card

Difficulty: Easy Age: 3 and up Average User Rating:4 This wreath-shaped Christmas card looks great hanging up on your door or mantel, or it can even be used as a nifty candle holder! What you'll need: * Cardstock * Mosiac tiles * 1/4" ribbon * White glitter * Medium-sized red beads * Assortment of colored paper * Paper scissors * Watered-down craft glue (recommended: Mod Podge) * Paint brush * Pencil * Hot glue gun * Pattern How to make it: Step 1: Candle Holder Ring Template 1. Trace and cut out card pattern on cardstock. Use a folded piece of cardstock, matching it up to the "fold line" indicated on the template. 2. Trace and cut 25-35 holly leaf patterns on an assortment of colored paper. Step 2: Mosiac Tile and Holly Leaves 1. Glue mosiac tile on center of card using a hot glue gun. 2. Place and glue holly leaves around tile. 3. Place and glue red beads on leaves. 4. Brush watered-down craft glue on leaves, red beads, and around tile. 5. Sprinkle with white glitter. 6. Tie a bow with 1/4" ribbon and glue to bottom of card. Tips: * Substitute mosiac tile with small flat stones or white glitter.

Christmas Bell Doorknob Hanger Card

Difficulty: Easy Age: 3 and up Average User Rating: 7 Parental supervision is recommended Ring-a-ding-ding! This card can also be used as a door knob decoration! What you'll need: * Cardstock * Fabric * Large gold or silver jingle bell * 1/4" ribbon * Boa * Gold or silver large bracelet (or ring) * Glue stick * Hot glue gun * Pencil * Fabric scissors * Paper scissors * Pattern 1 * Pattern 2 How to make it: Step 1: Pattern Cutout 1. Trace and cut out pattern one and pattern two on cardstock. For template C, use a folded piece of cardstock, matching it up to the "fold line" indicated on the pattern. 2. Glue fabric onto bells (A) and (B) with glue stick. 3. Cut off extra fabric leaving ½" trim around bell (A) and (B). 4. Fold the extra ½" trim and glue to back of bell (A) and (B) leaving the side flaps on bell (A) unglued. 5. Glue side flaps to the back of bell (B) and glue side edges leaving top unglued. 6. Hot glue bell card (C) to back of (B) (see image). Step 2: Loop and Jingle Bell 1. Thread a 9�? piece of 1/4�? ribbon halfway through a jingle bell. 2. Pass ends of ribbon through bottom of bell card and pull ends of ribbon out top of bell. 3. Pass ribbon through a gold loop or bracelet and glue ends of ribbon ends together. 4. Tie a bow over ribbon ends and glue (see image). Tips: * An optional idea: Glue a strip of boa across the bottom of bell. * Substitute fabric for cover design cardstock.

Christmas Gingerbread House Card

Difficulty: Easy Age: 3 and up Average User Rating: 9 Parental supervision is recommended No baking is necessary, but this yummy card looks good enough to eat nonetheless! What you'll need: * Metallic bronze-colored cardstock * 3-D fabric pain in pearl white * Three colors of 3-D pearl paint * Tiny colored beads * 1/4�? wide x 8" long ribbon * Paper scissors * Pencil * Ruler * Double-sided padded tape * White glitter * Hot glue gun * Pattern How to make it: Step 1: Template Cutout 1. Trace and cut out all gingerbread house pattern on colored cardstock. For the house pattern, use a folded piece of cardstock, matching it up to the "fold line" indicated on the template. 2. Place double-sided padded tape on the inside of the roof and place the roof on top of the house card. Step 2: Icing the Gingerbread House 1. Pipe along edges of house, roof, windows, and door using white 3-D fabric paint. 2. Sprinkle with white glitter and let dry. 3. Decorate rest of the house using a colored 3-D pearl paint. We dotted along the windows, edges, and roof. 4. Sprinkle with white glitter and let dry. 5. Repeat the steps with the other 3-D colored paints. Use one color at a time and let dry in between each color. 6. Place small drops of 3-D white pearl paint on roof and sprinkle tiny beads on top. 7. Sparkle with more white glitter. 8. Have an adult cut out all windows on front of card with a utility knife (recommeded: X-Acto knife). Step 3: Ribbon Bows 1. Tie a bow at the center of the 1/4" ribbon. 2. Hot glue the ends of the ribbon to the back/top centre of roof. Tips: * Substitute tiny beads for different colored glitter.

Pinecone Christmas Tree Card & Ornament

Difficulty: Easy Age: 3 and up Average User Rating: 6 The beauty of nature is front and center with this pinecone card. This greeting will bring smiles to those that love the idea of a winter wonderland. What you'll need: * Pinecone * 3-D white fabric paint * 1" Ribbon * 1/8" Ribbon * Fabric * Beads * White glitter * Watered-down craft glue * Paint brush * White cardstock * Fabric scissors * Paper scissors * Pencil * Ruler * Glue stick * Hot glue gun * Branch clippers How to make it: Step 1: Card Template 1. Cut out a 4½ x 8 ¾�? rectangle shape on white cardstock and fold over leaving ¾�? of the bottom lip exposed. 2. Score 1" from front top of card. 3. Glue 5" x 5" piece of fabric on front of card using a glue stick, then trim off excess. Step 2: Ribbon 1. Glue a 4-1/2�? long piece of 1/8�? ribbon to front bottom edge of card. 2. Cut a 4-1/2�? long piece of 1�? ribbon and glue above score line. 3. Glue 1/8�? ribbon below the bottom edge of 1�? ribbon. 4. Wrap 1/8" ribbon around to back of card and glue into place. 5. Cut a 9" long piece of 1/8�? ribbon and tie a knot on the end. 6. Hot glue the knot on the ribbon at the top of the center of the back of the card. 7. Cut a small piece of 1/8" ribbon and tie a bow around loop. Glue the bow at the center on front of card. 8. Glue beads on front and back of bow and on ribbon knot. Step 3: Pinecone Christmas Tree 1. Cut off back of pinecone with branch clippers to create half a pinecone. 2. Hot glue pinecone to the center of the front of card. 3. Glue beads on pinecone. 4. Place small amount of 3-D fabric paint on the tips of the pinecone. 5. Sparkle white glitter on top of fabric paint and let dry. 6. Brush a thin amount of watered-down craft glue on bottom edge of card and apply glitter. Tips: * Substitute design fabric for design cardstock.

Love Birds Christmas Card

Difficulty: Easy Age: 4 and up Average User Rating:4 This card is for that special someone close to your heart! The festive feathers and rhinestones make this craft fun, yet fancy. What you'll need: * Colored cardstock * Small rhinestone diamonds (4) * Beads or artificial berries * Green paper * Boa * Feathers * Glue gun * String or thin wire * Pencil * Paper scissors * Pattern HOw to make it: Step 1: Cut Out Patterns 1. Fold colored cardstock in half. For the birds, use a folded piece of cardstock, matching it up to the "fold line" indicated on the pattern. 2. Trace and cut out leaf pattern on green colored paper. Step 2: Body and Wings of Birds 1. On the frontside of the card, glue a handful of feathers to the tails of the birds. 2. Glue a small piece of boa on base of each tail, on top of where the feathers are glued to the card. 3. Glue a single feather on front and back of each bird for wings. 4. Glue two rhinestone diamonds on the front of card and two on back of card for eyes. Step 3: Beads and Leaves 1. String together medium and small beads and glue to the front of beak. 2. Glue two leaves on the front of the card, underneath the beads, and glue another leaf on the back of card. Tips:* Subsitute feathers for curled strips of paper.

Angel Wings Card & Door Hanger

What you'll need: * Design cardstock * White cardstock * Boa (white) * 3 Pipe cleaners * Beads (colored) * 1�? Wooden ball or doll head * Needle and thread * 1/4" ribbon * Thin black marker * Acrylic paint (skin tone, red, white, pink) * Scissors * Hot glue gun * Pencil * Embroidery thread * Jewlery wire (optional) * Ruler * Pattern How to make it: Step 1: Wings/Dress 1. Trace and cut out wing pattern on white cardstock. For the wings, use a folded piece of cardstock, matching it up to the "fold line" indicated on the pattern. 2. Cut out a 5" x 5" square on design cardstock. 3. Cut out two 2" x 2" squares of design cardstock. 4. Roll each 2" x 2" square into a cone shape for sleeves and glue together. Step 2: Arms / Body 1. Fold a piece of pipe cleaner in half for the body. 2. Glue wooden head at open end of pipe cleaner body. 3. Fold both ends of another piece of pipe cleaner so the two ends meet at the center. These will be used for the arms. 4. Twist pipe cleaner arms around the body once, 1/2" from the base of head 5. Secure the pieces together by wrapping colored embroidery thread tightly and closely around the arms and neck. 6. Tie and cut with scissors. Step 3: Legs/ Dress 1. With the embroidery thread or jewlery wire, create two, 3" long bead strings and tie to botton of pipe cleaner's body for legs. 2. Roll up the 5" x 5"square dress and shape it into a cone around pipecleaner's body. 3. Leave pointy edges uncut and glue cone together. 4. Slide dress under arms and glue to body with hot glue. 5. Slide sleeves onto arms and glue in place with hot glue. Step 4: Halo/Wings 1. Cut an 8" long piece of 1/4�? ribbon and glue ends to back of neck and head. 2. Cut a 3" piece of pipe cleaner for halo and string 1" to 1 ½" with colored beads. 3. Shape the beaded part of the pipe cleaner into a circle and twist together the loose end to the middle of the pipe cleaner, leaving 1" unbeaded at the end. 4. Hot glue the unbeaded end of pipecleaner to back of angel's head. 5. Glue a small piece of boa around the neck. 6. Glue boa on the front and back of wings. 7. Glue wings on back of dress Tips: * You could paint a face using paint and thin permanent black marker but we suggest you leave face unpainted.
